Biography

Patti Widick Neale has been an active participant in many facets of the dog sport for her entire adult life. In partnership with her husband, Christopher Neale, she has owned and shown Dachshunds, Salukis, a Whippet, a Finnish Spitz and Siberian Huskies, but as a breeder, has concentrated on her beloved Borzoi.

Together, the Neales have bred well over 100 American Borzoi Champions. Among them have been Group, Best in Show, National Specialty and Westminster winners, all owner-handled. The Sylvan Borzoi have excelled in obedience work, and Mrs. Neale has been involved in lure coursing since 1975, formerly as a judge. One of her Dual Champions was also a Best in Show winner. She has logged over 1600 miles as a dry-land musher, driving two-dog Borzoi teams with a four-wheeled sulky.

In 1992, her interests expanded into the judging arena. She is currently approved for Best in Show, Hounds, Working and Herding dogs, and several Toy and Non-Sporting breeds, and has judged in 11 other countries. In 2020, she was privileged to judge at Westminster Kennel Club.

Mrs. Neale developed the Judges Education program for the Borzoi Club of America and gives seminars on the Borzoi and other breeds around the United States and abroad.

She studied Fine Arts at the University of South Florida, and professionally, worked for many years in the printing and reprographics trade, and as a photographer. She has served as portrait artist for the Bulldog Club of America’s Hall of Fame. Her photographs of dogs and other animals appear in numerous books and magazines.
