|American Cocker Spaniels were a huge part of my life growing up. After moving out on my own, I knew I couldn't be without a dog but decided I needed to venture out and learn about other breeds and what they were like and why. After two years of researching, I ended up buying another American Cocker Spaniel as the sporting breeds definitely fit my lifestyle and the Cocker was small enough to go everywhere with me. I ventured into obedience with him at the Greater Victoria German Shepherd Club which I soon joined. From there I met a breeder and purchased my first "show dog" (German Shepherd) as it was a requirement in the contract to have her shown. I spent a lot of time ring side trying to learn all about showing and what the judges were looking for. I fell in love with this sport in Purebred dogs.
As a member of the GSD club, I held positions on the executive for many years. I have continued on to breed American Cocker Spaniels and Weimeraners and I have had multiple Best in Show, Best in Specialty winners who have climbed to the top of the breed and group each year. I have spent many hours studying the different breeds and what makes them unique to accommodate their function. A day at the dog show for me is not to come in for my breed to show and leave...it is a whole day of fun watching and admiring the differences each breed has to offer. I am now on permit for my first half of the Sporting Group and look forward to following this passion of mine.
