|I have been involved with Finnish Lapphunds for 15 years as a breeder and exhibitor. Under the kennel name Bearspaw, I have bred/owned dogs winning BIS, NBISS, BVIS, BPIS, Junior World Winner, major awards at Westminster Kennel Club, Eukanuba, and specialty shows in Canada, the US, Finland, and Estonia. We are the only North American Finnish Lapphund breeders to export back to Finland. In addition to showing our own dogs, they work closely with the Peikkovuoren kennel in Finland, and have brought to Canada both Finnish champions and World Winning dogs. I grew up with miniature schnauzers, prior to moving into Finnish Lapphunds. When not with my Finnish Lapphunds, I work as a masters level clinical social worker in mental health. I completed degrees at Bryn Mawr College and Smith College in the US. I am excited to be working towards herding permit, with a special interest in Spitz breeds, herding and working breeds. There is not a breed I don't appreciate- rare, common, coated, not coated, all groups. I have been practicing varying forms of mindfulness for more than 24 years now, and look at each dog I meet with the joy of Beginner's Mind.
