Dr. Vandra L. Huber has owned and bred more than 160 American Kennel Club (AKC) championScottish Terriers. She is the only Scottish Terrier breeder and one of only five terrier breeders to haveattained AKC’s top breeder award namely Breeder of Merit. Scottish Terriers owned or bred by Dr.Huber have gone Best in Show at four of the most prestigious dog shows in the world includingWestminster Kennel Club, Crufts in England, Benelux World Dog Show and Eurasia World Show.McVan Scottish Terriers have won American breed’s national specialty more than 12 times. A McVanScottish Terrier holds the record for the most breed-specific specialty wins. Her Scottish Terrier GCHGCH McVan’s Stardust aka Dusty Rose was the top Scottish Terrier in the USA, all systems in 2021.McVan® Scottish Terriers is a boutique kennel located in the Pacific Northwest. The focus has alwaysbeen on quality, not quantity. A believer in breed preservation through gene diversity, Vandra haspartnered with breeders around the world. The results have produced No. 1 Scotties Terriers in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, England, Japan Russia, People; Republic of China, Singapore, and Taiwan.These champions have gone on to produce numerous other breed winners, and sires and dams. Inaddition to Scottish Terriers, Dr. Huber and her husband have bred/owned Border Terriers, Cairns,Russell Terriers, Parson Russell Terriers, Smooth and Wire Terriers. She also has shown and ownedMiniature Poodles, Bearded Collies, and Affenpinchers. Dr. Huber is licensed to judge all AKC terriers and toys breeds, all variety of poodles, and the majority ofherding breeds. Internationally, she has judged in Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Estonia, Finland,Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, and ThailandDr. Huber is active in the Olympic Kennel Club. She is President of the Washington State ScottishTerrier Club and was the founder of the Scottish Terrier Club of America (STCA) Top 20 competition.She is a frequent speaker on Scottish Terrier history and conformation and conducts comparativeseminars on short legged terriers. She has frequently spoken to judge and to exhibitor groups on thetopic of Decision Making Biases associated with the sport of purebred dogs. She is a frequentcontributor to dog magazines with various articles such as Breeding the Scottish Terrier, Deep SmartBreeders, Scottish Terrier Vintage Jewelry, Famous People Owned by Scottish Terriers, She was afinalist for Dog New’s Winki Award and McVan Scottish Terriers was featured in the Terrier Issue of BestIn Show magazine. Dr. Huber is an Emeritus Professor of Human Resources and Management, Foster School of Business,University of Washington. |
