| I grew up in Northern Ireland where my first dog was an English
Springer Spaniel. I came from a family of Sporting dogs as my mother
had bred English Cockers and my father worked Labradors. My first show dog was an Afghan Hound, a breed I stayed with from the seventies for three decades. However, I am known for the pioneer work and long time involvement with the PBGV, having bred over 150 Champions worldwide. Cavaliers came into my life back in the eighties and I established my line of Dehra breeding, based largely on Ronnoc and Homerbrent lines. A number of exports to the USA, before the breed was AKC recognised, pre-dated my own move state-side in the mid nineties when several Cavaliers accompanied me! I stayed pretty true to these lines and in those early days of AKC recognition produced foundation Cavaliers for a number of breeders as well as successfully breeding a steady number of Champions and Group placing Cavaliers for the Dehra kennel. I have judged Cavaliers not only in the USA but also in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. I judge the Hound, Sporting and most of the Terrier Groups. Although no longer breeding Cavaliers, they still remain a heart breed for me! |
